Strategic Consultancy

For organisations that want to understand where they stand in their BIM/openBIM digitalisation and what the realistic steps to progress are — the big picture, not a specific tool.

The strategic consultancy service is dedicated to organisations that want to understand where they are in their BIM/openBIM digitalisation process and what the realistic steps to progress are. The session does not focus on a specific software tool, but on the big picture: objectives, organisational maturity, workflows, roles, responsibilities, standards, risks and opportunities. It suits design offices, construction companies, developers, and public or private clients who need a clear direction before investing in software, training, internal standards or project BIM requirements.

The consultancy examines how BIM/openBIM can support the organisation's objectives: better coordination, fewer errors, higher deliverable quality, quantity take-off, readiness for public requirements, openBIM collaboration or the digitalisation of internal processes. The discussion can cover defining a BIM vision, setting a roadmap, establishing an OIR (organisational information requirements), prioritising implementation stages, choosing the relevant BUCs, defining responsibilities and identifying technical or organisational bottlenecks.

The outcome of such a session is a clear understanding of the way forward. Depending on the client's needs, recommendations may be formulated on process standardisation, choosing the CDE, the BEP/EIR structure, the required level of information, exchange formats, team training and short-, medium- and long-term implementation steps. Strategic consultancy is especially useful when an organisation does not just want to "use BIM", but to understand how it can turn BIM into a controlled, scalable process relevant to its own projects.

For longer-term consultancy engagements, which can include an audit of internal BIM workflows/processes, we recommend requesting a custom quote.
Consultancy for a consolidated BIM Use Case

Consolidated BIM Use Case Consultancy

Applied support for implementing one or more mature BIM Use Cases — where the processes, standards, deliverables and tools are already clear enough.

This consultancy is dedicated to organisations or project teams that need applied support for implementing one or more consolidated BIM Use Cases. Consolidated BUCs are those BIM uses that have reached a high degree of market maturity, for which processes, standards, deliverables and software tools are sufficiently clear. Typical examples include existing-conditions modelling, developing information models, 3D coordination, generating deliverables, quantity take-off or project visualisation.

The session starts from the practical question: what verifiable result must be achieved through that BUC? For BUC26, for example, the emphasis may be on the structure of discipline models, the level of information, properties, classifications and IFC export. For BUC28, the discussion may address model federation, clash detection, issue management, BCF, responsibilities and coordination cycles. For BUC30, attention shifts to model structure, coding, measurement rules and the traceability between model and quantities.

The consultancy helps turn a BUC from a general intention into a concrete process: deliverable, method, responsibilities, format, verification and evidence in the CDE. Existing models, workflows, IFC exports, deliverable structures or information requirements can be analysed. The outcome may be a specific recommendation, a checklist, a process diagram, a clarification for the BEP/EIR or a working methodology immediately applicable on the project. It is a service suited to teams that want to implement BIM pragmatically, with clear and verifiable results.

For longer-term consultancy engagements, we recommend requesting a custom quote.
Consultancy for an emerging / maturing BIM Use Case

Emerging / Maturing BIM Use Case Consultancy

For those who want to explore advanced BUCs — automation, BIM-GIS, automated checking, data-centric flows — realistically assessing whether they are feasible and justified.

This consultancy is aimed at organisations that want to explore more advanced BIM Use Cases — emerging ones, or those still in the process of maturing. Unlike consolidated BUCs, these uses are not always fully standardised in the market and can depend heavily on the project context, the team's maturity level, data availability and existing software capabilities. Examples may include advanced automation — scripts, BIM-GIS integration, special engineering analyses, automated checking processes, connecting BIM data with sensors, asset management or data-centric workflows.

The aim of the session is to assess whether such a BUC is feasible, timely and justified for the project or organisation. The discussion does not start from the premise that any advanced use must be implemented immediately, but from a realistic analysis of benefits, costs, risks and the necessary conditions. The types of available data, model quality, interoperability, the required standards, the possible level of automation and the team's readiness are all analysed.

The outcome of the consultancy may be a testing strategy, a pilot scenario, a map of the required data, an assessment of available tools or a recommendation on the maturation steps. For some organisations, the conclusion may be that the use is feasible immediately. For others, an intermediate stage may be needed: standardising models, introducing a CDE, defining properties, cleaning up data or implementing consolidated BUCs before moving to more advanced uses. This type of consultancy suits organisations that want to innovate, but in a controlled, well-founded way connected to real delivery capacity.

Consultancy on a specific BIM software tool

Specific Software Tool Consultancy

The practical use, configuration and integration of a concrete BIM application into a real workflow — not strategy, but the platform you actually use.

Consultancy on a specific software tool is oriented towards the practical use, configuration and integration of a BIM application into a real workflow. Unlike strategic consultancy, which looks at the organisation as a whole, this service focuses on a concrete platform or application: BIM authoring software, BIM management software, IFC viewer, CDE, checking application, quantity take-off tool, automation solution or openBIM platform. The aim is to understand how that tool can be used to achieve a BUC or to solve a specific problem.

The session can cover configurations, best practices, file structuring, IFC export, property import/export, working with classifications, filters, coordinates, federation, issue management, BCF, templates, checking rules or connecting with other applications. Depending on the client's need, the consultancy can take the form of diagnosis, applied training, technical support or workflow review. For example, it can analyse why an IFC does not export correctly, how a model should be structured for quantities, how a model is checked in a viewer, how a package is prepared for the CDE or how a coordination flow across several applications is configured.

The outcome is an applied, directly usable recommendation: recommended settings, working steps, export structure, checklist, observations on the model or improvement proposals. This type of consultancy is useful for teams that already have a software tool but are not sure they are using it correctly with respect to the project's BIM objectives. The emphasis is not on isolated features, but on the link between tool, process, model, deliverable and the BIM Use Case being pursued.
